R. David Marquez
Mr. Marquez enjoys a reputation as a hard working and tenacious advocate who represents his clients with the dignity and respect that they deserve. He graduated from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business and Economics.
He also obtained a Juris Doctor Degree from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico’s School of Law and subsequently received his Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. He is bilingual and speaks fluent English and Spanish.
Mr. Marquez was admitted to the New York State bar in 1984. In1985 was admitted to the Federal District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. In 2002 he was admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Mr. Marquez’s career as a litigation attorney began twenty-nine years ago as an associate counsel in a small Suffolk County law practice. He quickly moved on to become the only Hispanic associate counsel at a major 200 attorney New York City medical malpractice defense firm where he represented hospitals in the Bronx. Several years later Mr. Marquez became trial counsel to several prominent plaintiff’s personal injury law firms in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island and the Bronx. He has litigated and tried various different cases involving, trip and fall accidents, automobile accidents, pedestrian accidents, premises liability accidents, assault and battery tort claims, Police brutality claims, medical malpractice claims, obstetrical malpractice claims, and wrongful death claims. He was previously a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
Mr. Marquez then expanded his practice areas by defending landlords and commercial tenants involved in public nuisance cases brought by the New York City Police Department under the New York City Administrative Code. He went on to defend individuals accused of crimes such as illegal gambling, enterprise corruption, robbery, weapons possession, drug possession, rape, assault and forgery. Currently he defends individuals accused of all major felonies. He is a current member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Puerto Rican Bar Association and the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association.
During the past decade Mr. Marquez has had occasion to become involved in representing taxpayers before the New York State Division of Tax Appeals and the New York City Tax Appeals Tribunal. Mr. Marquez has also represented litigants involved in commercial and contractual disputes as well as creditors before the United States Bankruptcy Court.
At the present time Mr. Marquez is again expanding his focus to include the representation of homeowners facing residential foreclosures in his private practice on Long Island. Mr. Marquez prides himself on his aggressive litigation style, objective candor in his client communications and personal attention to everyone he represents. Currently a member of the Nassau County Bar Association.

In 1989, established solo practice to represent victims of medical malpractice and personal injury claimants, including birth related injuries due to obstetrical negligence, premises liability, trip and falls, excessive force, automobile accidents and wrongful death.
1990's - present, in addition to the above practice areas I also represented individuals accused of crimes including assault, forgery, illegal gambling, enterprise corruption, robbery, rape, and drug possession; litigants involved in civil forfeitures, public nuisance, non-payment of state income taxes, non-payment of unincorporated business taxes, civil commercial disputes arising out of breach of contracts and creditors in adversary proceedings before the federal bankruptcy courts.
